no of gallons = 12000/30 = 400

B. How much gasoline in grams is used in one year?

volume of gasoline in ml = 400*3.785*10^3    (1 gallon = 3.785*10^3 ml)

                          = 1.514*10^6 ml

mass of octane = v*d

       = 1.514*10^6*0.703

       = 1.06*10^6 g

C. How much CO2 in grams is produced in a single year? How many pounds of CO2 are produced?


from equation , 2 mol C8H18 = 18 mol CO2

NO of mol of OCtane needed = 1.06*10^6/114.23 = 9279.52 mol

NO of mol of CO2 produced = 9279.52*18 = 1.67*10^5 mol
