Question 1
1. Discuss the waste
profiling process using the laboratory report as a metric of the
industrial and hazardous waste treatment system’s effectiveness. Be
sure and describe any suggested engineering considerations that
would be necessary in order to improve the system as it relates to
reducing hazardous solid waste (such as filter cake).
Your response should be at least 200 words in length.
Question 2
1.
Discuss the landfill coordination and acceptance of solid waste
generated from the industrial and hazardous waste treatment process
(to include the filter cake). Be sure and include the manifest
paperwork, personnel training, and other important aspects of
transporting and disposing of the solid waste into a landfill in
your discussion.
Your response should be at least 200 words in length.
Industrial and hazardousBioreactor landfill
Chemical and biological processes are expected to occur .At these sites ,drainage controls are also required .In addition ,any gases emitted are to be captured and treated .Given the unpredictable composition of their contents, bioreactor landfills are at greatest risk of required to be disposed of in sepatate compartments ,isolated from other types of waste .If these wastes were intermixed ,heavy metal be leached out in much greater quantities as a result of the relatively lowpH of uncinerator slag .Compartments for residual wastes have also been established at numerous bioreactor landfills sites.
Bioreactor landfills requires long term efforts to monitor and treat gases and contaminated leached .The processes occurring within the landfill continue for decades and cannot ,in the event of an incident ,be switched off within a matter of hours like the furnace of a muncipal waste incinerator. over a period of decades ,despite the use of gas capture system ,substantial amounts of methane and other undesirable gases are released into the atmosphere from bioreactor landfills.
