MIS is an essential discipline to be taught in a Business school, moe so when most businesses are adapting technology to create competitive advantage by serving their customers better, producing at lower costs and managing their resources more effectively. However, it is not the most important one. Equally, if not more important are the disciplines like sustainability, CSR, financial management, operations, consumer psychology and strategic management to the holistic development of managerial acumen in the young minds. The MIS is more of an application based course, which can make your processes more efficient and help you create competitive advantage, but only when you get your basics right, i.e.understand the principles of finance, operational effectiveness, human behavioural psychology and HRM, besides learning the importance of community involvement and sustanable development in harmony with environment. MIS can never save you if you make a fundamental blunder by getting any one of these wrong. It will help you only if everything else is in place.
