A company should hire an external candidate under the following circumstances:
1. If the company doesn't posses certain skills that they need in the short span of time, it is best to hire an external candidate with the requisite skills.
2. If the company doesn't have a person suitable for a higher position, it might want to take a person external to the organization who has proven leadership experience.
3. If the company wants to change the culture of an organization, they might want to hire an employee from an organization whose culture they want to replicate in their organization.
4. In order to improve and increase competition among employees, a company may want to hire competitive external candidates.
5. A company that desires to grow aggressvely may go for two options either go for an acquisition (inorganic growth) or hire a lot of employees from that organization rather than taking over the company as a whole.
6. In order to support geographical expansion, a company may hire external candidates, local to that region, for quick adaptability.
