1) A four year old child, male, named Robin.
2) According to Erik Erikson's psychosocial development, the third stage of development begins around the age of 3 and continues till a child is 5 years old.
The name of this stage is, Initiative versus Guilt. The child here starts interacting with other children in the school. The most important component of this stage is 'play'. The child learns to take initiative if brought up by the parents by answering their questions in a rational way, respecting the child and encouraging them to experiment. However, in case the child is criticised or controlled, he/she may develop a sense of guilt of being a notorious child, being a nuisance. Such children rarely takes any initiative and simply follow others. The important component of Robin is that he takes initiative and involves in play a lot.
3) Let's talk about parenting style now. Authoritative Parenting Style should be chosen for Robin.
Authoritative Parenting Style is found to be most beneficial for children. This parenting style involves the correct amount of discipline as well as caring. Being strict when needed, but being equally caring is the main charachteristic of this style. The parents are nurturing, caring and communicate clearly as to what they expect from there children.
4) Being bought up with Authoritative Parenting Style, Robin, at this young age begins to categorize objects, shapes as well as himself. His self concept about himself is Categorical Self concept as he recognizes himself as a 'boy' who is '4' years old.
5) Robin has a new born sister. He lerans to understand that she is a baby girl and she's still way too small. He slowly starts to realize that he is a elder brother and needs to be more responsible. He helps his mother to take care of his sister. With the correct parenting style, Robin is never jealous of his sister, he's also caring just like his parents. He begins to realize that he needs to maintain silence when the baby is sleeping and sacrifices his T.V time which is one quality that will help him in life. The relationship between Robin and the new baby currently is of adjusting and being careful with the bay.
