What skills do a CPA of the future should possess to be successful?explain
A CPA or a Certified public accountant should posses the following skills to be successful:
1- Communication -
An accountant has to interact with all kinds of people in a work
environment, so strong written and verbal communication skills are
very important. Being friendly with your colleagues, respectable
towards your seniors and informative to your subordinates, all this
is reflected by how good you are communicating with them. Apart
from this , CPA also has to prepare reports, write emails, attend
meetings etc in all these clarity of information is seen which he
wants to convey. So ultimately the excellence of a CPA very much
depend on his communication skills
2- Integrity -
Everyone who are involved in business both internal as well as
outside parties rely on truthfulness of financial statements which
are prepared by CPA. Therefore he must ensure that there is
honesty, truthfulness and transparency in those reports so that no
party is misled in any way and financial statements are able to
serve their basic purpose successfully which is to provide
information related to Profitability, growth and financial position
of the enterprise to all stakeholders concerned
3- Leadership - A
very key skill of every person is how well he can guide and train
those below him . In most organisations there are teams for every
sectors even accounting, therefore CPA must have a good leadership
skills so that he is able to guide other members of team to work
hard towards accomplishment of organisational objectives. A good
leader shouldn't just be a boss but as a friend he should also
interact with everybody to solve their issues so that they can give
their best.
4- Tech Savvy - A
CPA must have a sound knowledge on the latest software which are in
use so that he can provide the same level of skill and better
quality service as are expected from a CPA by company. He should
update himself so that he can take advantage of technological
advancements and try to turn them into opportunities rather then
treat them as a threat
5- Knowledge
updation - CPA must follow the norms and standards which are
in use so that his prepared accounts are lawful and acceptable. The
rules for preparation of accounts and their relevant standards keep
on updating and CPA must also update his knowledge respectively. By
learning and improving skills CPA can provide better service to
their clients
6- Creativity - The
situations that arise in a daily working environment cannot be
ascertained with certainity . CPA must be able handle different
scenarios which may all not be favorable so he must also have
strong tolerance. Using his skills , knowledge and creativity he
should find ways to deal with such changes effectively so that he
can discharge his duties without any problem or setbacks
