Define the digital divide and explain Nielsen’s three stages of the digital divide.
In this regard digital divide is nothing but the uneven distribution of the usage or the access or the impact of the information technology to various people based on geographical distribution or cultural distribution etc.
Nielsen suggested three stages of digital divide where the first stage is economic divide where it suggests that digital divide is actually a case where all people cannot actually offered and for instance one person can offer the computer and the other cannot. The second stage is usability divide where it can be seen that the digital divide can occur actually to do the non usage where even if a person can afford a computer but he doesn't know how to use it falls under this case. The third stage is empowerment divide and this is the most difficult stages to understand because not everyone can actually get to find how how technology is actually being used by us or how it is actually empowering us without the knowledge it actually divides.
