Earthquake proof bed.

1. List the system parameter for this bed.

2. What are the engineering contradiction about this thing?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Earthquake proof bed is the bed made of metallic plates, in which we can protect ourselves under these beds during a natural calamity like earthquake.

1. The system parameter for this bed is as follows:-

(i) The bed has to be higher endurance strength enough to bear earthquake vibrations before failure.

(ii) This bed can have certain tools & food items to spend some time until a rescuing authority come over.

(iii) The bed should have a cushion material inside it to feel relaxed.

(iv) There should be an opening in the bed in order to feel customer good to rest inside it.

(v) It should have saws, hammer so that a person can remove debris after earthquake.

2. The engineering contradiction about the Earthquake proof bed is as follows:-

(i) This bed may be fully covered into debris that cannot be removed using basic tools or by any person.

(ii) This bed may be flipped in any direction if it placed in 10th floor in a building.

(iii) The water & too many dust may be entered from the openings in the bed and the person may be asthematic or may be dead due to suffocation.

(iv) If the bed is in 10th floor in the building, the floor of the flat may be broken which is just under the bed, In this condition, the person may be collapsed.
