Medical systems currently used in India are:

Ayurveda: It is one of the most traditional Medical systems of India; Literally Ayurveda means the science of life. The treatment in Ayurveda lies in restoring the balance of disturbed humors (doshas) through regulating diet, correcting life-routine and behaviour, administration of drugs.
Siddha System of Medicine: Widely practiced in parts of South India especially in Tamilnadu.This has close affinity to Ayurveda yet it is distinct from Ayurveda.This system of medicine is identified with Tamil Civilization. According to the Siddha system of Medicine matter and energy are the two dominant entities, which have great influence in shaping the nature of the Universe. They are called Siva and Sakthi respectively in Siddha system. Similar to Ayurveda, Siddha system also follows ashtanga concept with regards to treatment procedures.
Unani System of Medicine: Unani medicine has its origin in Greece. It is believed to have been established by the great physician and philosopher- Hippocrates. According to the basic principles of Unani the body is made up of four basic elements i.e. Earth, Air, Water, Fire which have different Temperaments i.e. Cold, Hot, Wet, Dry. Disease conditions are treated by employing four types of therapies- a- Regimental therapy, b-Dietotherapy, c-Pharmacotherapy and d- Surgery.
Yoga and Naturopathy: Yoga is a way of life, which has the potential for improvement of social and personal behaviour, improvement of physical health by encouraging better circulation of oxygenated blood in the body, restraining sense organs and thereby inducing tranquillity and serenity of mind. Naturopathy is also a way of life, with drugless treatment of diseases. The system is based on the ancient practice of application of simple laws of nature. The advocates of naturopathy focus on eating and living habits, adoption of purification measures, use of hydrotherapy, baths, massage etc.
