Hospitality industry is a major component of service industry. In this twenty-first century, the hospitality industry is growing manifolds and is reaching far and wide in the world. The hospitality sector has combined its operations with the travel industry as well as corporate sector and this partnership is bringing many new projects in this sector. As the business is growing, so are the projects in this sector. This is the reason that project management needs to be integrated in the hospitality sector.

The thesis statement of my research is the integration of project management in hospitality sector.

Project management is used to look after the project lifecycle in the company. It is concerned with initiation of project, its planning and execution, testing and monitoring as well as closing the work. The team works in tandem to achieve the common objective of the project. The various aspects in hospitality industry where project management is integrated are as follows:

• Ensuring quality in service delivery
• Procurement of raw material from suppliers
• Managing risk in all avenues of business
• Conflict Management
• Helps in strategic management
• Encourages the company to learn from its mistakes
• Change management

Typical phases of a project management are:

• Project initiation

The scope and nature of the project are considered in this phase

• Planning and design

After scope is finalized, the planning for project commences and project plan and WBS are drafted

• Execution and Construction

Based on the project plan and WBS, the execution of project is conducted. It must be noted that the project must adhere to timelines and fulfillment of common objective is aimed at.

• Monitoring

Both internal and external factors that can impact the project flow are monitored and measures are taken to control their impact.

• Completion

This is basically the formal way of project closure where the project is accepted by the stakeholders
