Healthcare is a right, not a privilege. People with low incomes have access to healthcare. It is termed a right, not a privilege. It is termed as Medicaid. To some it is a way of undermining responsibility, and, work. Taxpayers need to provide for a large percentage of the population. Good health is necessary to have a life, and, have it abundantly. Each of us must have access to it. This is the idea of Human Rights, as per the declaration of independence.
Ethics
Rights are as much about duties as our freedoms. The debate is about how much aid, and, protection the society should provide.
Key ethical principles - Beneficence, non-maleficence, autonomy, justice.
Health System
The healthcare system is trying to cover children, low-wage workers, the unemployed, the self-employed, and, the small business owners - those who do not have employer-provided health insurance.
The emphasis is on Integrated healthcare delivery system with telemedicine.
