Different types of pre zygotic barriers are -
The most frequently occuring pre zygotic barrier should be gametic isolation. It means the two organsims showing this type of reproductive barriers are sexually incompatible to each other, that is, the sperm and egg of these two species cannot fertilize. For example, sporophytic and gametophytic self incompatibility in angiosperms.
This type of reproductive isolation should be prevalent because in a given region, there are many different types of organisms, most of them belonging to different species as well. So in this case, geographical barriers will not be advantageous and transfer of male gametes to female gametes can also take place, even if there is mechanical or temporal isolation (as in plants). Therefore to prevent the chances of getting fertilised to each other, the gametes themselves become incompatible.
