Brain structures responsible for sexual behaviors. Pick one of the following brain areas: MPOA, Medial Amygdala, vmH, PVN, or SDN. Then, describe in detail what types of symptoms would result if an individual had damage to that area. DO NOT LIST or NAME your brain area! When you respond to the other post, your job is to try to guess what the damaged brain area is, and why you think that is the area. You will be graded on how well you describe the deficits for that brain area.

Areas controlling the sexual behaviour -
Using fMRI, scientists have pinpointed a number of regions of the brain that kick in when people feel sexual desire. As expected, several of them are in the temporal lobe. One of those regions, the amygdala, orchestrates powerful emotions.
The temporal lobes. The area of the limbic system most frequently implicated in the mediation of human sexual behaviour is the temporal lobes. Accumulating evidence of changes in sexual behaviour following temporal lobe dysfunction has led to the phrase the “libidinous temporal lobe
Damage to the areas ;
Temporal lobe Injury to this part of the brain has been linked to an increase in sexual interest and emotions (hyperactive sexuality), although it can also result in a reduced sex drive (hypoactive sexuality). Some people who have had temporal lobe injury have also been found to develop paraphilias.
Damage to pathways in the frontal and temporal lobes has been linked to difficulties in understanding whether someone else is interested in sexual contact, for example through body language and ‘reading’ emotions. These same difficulties can interfere with the emotional connection between romantic partners, which can affect intimacy.
Amygdala – this part of the brain is largely responsible for managing emotions. Damage to the amygdala can result in problems with the emotions typically associated with sexual well-being, such as orgasm sensations or sexual feelings. The amygdala has also been associated with sex drive.
