your friend has a daughter who was recently diagnosed with ADHD and wants her doctor to prescribe medication to cure the disorder. what would her pediatrician tell her?

must be 150 words

Solutions

Expert Solution

Her pediatrician will not be able to prescribe any medicines for ADHD because he is not specialized in treating that type of diseases. Instead, her pediatrician would suggest her to visit a psychiatrist or refer her to a psychiatrist because a psychiatrist is specialized to diagnose ADHD and prescribe therapeutic treatment plans for helping the child. There are various therapy options and the psychiatrist would be the right person who will be able to discuss the treatment options with the child's parents and explain in detail about each of the options including its advantages and span of treatments. These treatments shall include medication along with one or more therapies, wherein even the parents can contribute to help the child as a parent. The parents would also be counselled to change their attitude and behavior towards the child in certain aspects so that the child starts feeling positive about herself. Thus getting proper treatment options through the proper channel will surely help her daughter in managing the ADHD problem.
