a. The hippocampus is an area of the brain that is associated with the limbic system and is involved in the conversion of long term memory into short term memory.
A lesion in the hippocampal region affects the formation of new memories in a person and also causes defects in thespatial memory and recognition abilities.
b.The amygdala are a pair of nuclei that are located in the temporal lobe of the brain.The amygdala has key role in the memory, decision-making and emotional responses in an individual.The persons with lesions of the amygdala reduces the memory of a person and can cause amnesia.The lesions also causes emotional imbalance and problems in decision making.
c.Broca area is a region in the frontal cortex of the brain that is involved in the speech production and language comprehension.The lesions in this region can cause problems with speech such as broca's aphasia.In such a condition,the aability of speech and communication is impaired.Difficuilty in speech,reading,stammering,disordered sentences,poor grammer etc can be seen.
d. The VII th Cranial nerve is the Facial nerve.The lesions of this nerve causes a condition called Bell's palsy.This condition causees the paralysis of the muscles of the face.This condition causes the droopinfg of the facial muscles.This condition occurs usually on one side of the face.
