water is important component on the Earth, daily in municipal domestic and industrial water is get polluted due to various harmful chemicals microbes which may not be used directly without treatment.
in nature the floating rivers act as natural purifiers, and circulate water again in purified form through water cycle
Municipal municipal wastewater treatment process:
The standard technique for treatment of wastewater before it get released into water bodies
It iconsists of 5 steps which are described below
Step 1 - screening : screening is the primary treatment process in which we need to check the quality level of water and we need to go for further advanced techniques for treatment.
checking of biological oxygen demand BOD levels is the primitive step of screening. If more BOD indicates the water gets more polluted
Step 2 coagulation:- adding of certain chemicals like alum which makes all dirt particles into lumps. In biological sewage treatment process the aerobic bacteria is flushed into water body so that the organic material get converted into flocks and settle down. These flocs are used as inoculum for further treatment of wastewater
Step 3 sedimentation: the oxidation ponds are used for sedimentation of flocs from the wastewater, the activated sludge which is settled down in the sedimentation tank are used for biogas production and the remenant are passed to the filteration tanks
Step 4 filteration:- filters are used for removal of flocs and other suspended particles, trickling filters are mostly used for the treatment of wastewater and municipal water in huge water bodies. Nano and micro filters are used for the removal of suspended based particles. but the microbes present in the water cannot be filtered by using filtration technique so these should be disinfected in the next step of sewage water treatment process
Step 5 disinfection. The last step of wastewater treatment is disinfection. Apart from usage of chemicals biological sewage treatment is most widely used method to prevent chemical retention after the treatment process generally chlorine is administered into the water to treat the water free from microorganisms. Water is one of the reason for getting a many diseases like diarrhoea typhoid so the water should be cleaned or disinfected by using disinfecting chemicals.
