| have personally experienced qualitative research, wherein the interviewer asked my opinion on whether Delhi Metro rides be made free of cost for women in order to encourage public transport usage by women.

Qualitative variables are better to use in research, as they give a detailed view and opinion on the answer and not just simply a numerical expression of the same, which can sometimes be deceiving.

Basic research refers to the study which expands the pre-known and pre-existing knowledge base; while Applied research refers to the study designed in order to solve specific questions using a practical approach instead of a theoretical approach used in basic research.

Managers must be aware of research in order to analyze what is happening in the team and how the results can be improved by analyzing the numbers and the trends going on currently. This can help them identify what works and what does not work for the company.
