A. How hormones regulate birth?
Ans. 1. First of all, we need to know what do hormones stand for?
Hormones are nothing but the chemical messenger required for perfect process flow inside the body.
2. There are many hormones which are work together to give birth to the child. as following
3. Oxytocin - Oxytocin is a peptide hormone produced by the hypothalamus and released by the pituitary gland. When oxytocin released into the blood, stretching of the cervix and uterus during labor takes place. Oxytocin is also called a hormone of love. Oxytocin helps to dilate the cervix to move baby outside, push out placenta and also limit the bleeding at the site of the placenta.
Low level of oxytocin creates problems during childbirth i.e. excess bleeding at the placenta and longer the labor pain.
4. Endonephrin - This is the pain-relieving and calming hormone. The level is higher near the end of childbirth. High levels of endonephrin make you attentive more alert and conscious during childbirth. Low level causes labor extremely painful.
5. Adrenalin- This is a fight to flight hormone. As women feel terrible during childbirth results in a high level of adrenalin production which causes distress to the baby before birth and causing contraction to stop. The level of adrenalin can be managed by staying calm and relaxed.
6. Prolactin - Prolactin is called a mothering hormone. It increases during pregnancy. Prolactin is central to breast milk production. Low level causes poor growth and development of baby.
