Solutions

Expert Solution

Some issues receive significant attention from decision-makers because these issues are widespread or omnipresent around the world. For example, pandemics and epidemics receive significantly higher level of attention due to the awareness created by the graveness of such situations. They render a tinge of seriousness to the present global scenario, owing to the repercussions they cause to people of different communities, caste, creed, and society. Often, these issues have the characteristic of being novel or new, like the novel corona virus. An entirely new issue is difficult to deal with, due to the unpreparedness to deal with such a situation. When corona virus started spreading, the governments of the world were unprepared in terms of the necessary infrastructure, adequate and accurate information, and necessary medication or vaccine to overcome the situation. Lives around the world are still at risk, owing to the lack of vaccine against corona virus. Such a situation, receive attention of decision makers like governments of the world.

Social issues supported by widespread demonstrations on road, world-wide campaigns, protests, etc, also hit hard at the desk of decision-makers and policy-makers. For example, the recent incident with George Floyd. George Floyd was a black person who became a victim of racism at the hands of the police. The mercilessness with which George was killed by police officers, raised agitations around the world and mass protest. Other social issues like faulty governments practices, rape, poverty, income inequality, casteism, reservation, quota system, etc, have created awareness around the world and have been the starting point of changes. When politics is concerned, the decision-makers are the citizens of the country. Many dictators and democratic governments have been overthroned by the public, owing to their ignorance to the problems of the general public and the oppression experienced by the general public due to an oppressing government.
