Give examples of three specific diseases caused by hormonal imbalances. Include the endocrine gland, hormone involved, and the characteristics of the disease
1 st disease is GIGANTISM
It is a disease that is having the characteristics of excess growth of the individual body .
The main cause is increasing secretion of the anterior pituitary that is the hypersecretion of the growth hormone.
Endocrine gland is ANTERIOR PITUITARY
Hormone involved is GROWTH HORMONE
Specific characteristics are the the hypersecretion of the growth hormone lead to late fusion of the epiphysis and lead to increased growth of the bones
2nd condition is diabetes insipus
This is a disorder that is caused by the deficiency of the Anti diuretic hormone in the individual
The endocrine gland involved is POSTERIOR PITUITARY GLAND
The hormone that is involved is the ANTI DIURETIC HORMONE and it's its deficiency is the cause
The disease is mainly characterised by excess of urine excretion and caused by hypoactive posterior PITUITARY
Main characteristics are polyuria in the individual due to inability to concentrate urine
Polydipsia as a result of polyuria
Dehydration can occur due to excess urination in the individual.
3rd condition is ACROMEGALY
It is the condition characterized by the enlarged broadening and thickening of the bone, specifically in the extremities of the body
The hormone involved is HYPERSECRETION OF GROWTH HORMONE
The gland involved is ANTERIOR PITUITARY
The characteristics are gorilla face in the individual
Kyphosis
Thickening of the scalp In the individual
Hair overgrowth
Bulldog scalp
Hyperglycemia in the individual
