Describe how energy contained in coal is transformed into electric energy, how it gets to your home, and then how it is converted into energy in the forms that you need. Be as detailed in each stage as you can.
Part A) Coal into Electric Energy:
(Heat Energy to Mechanical Energy to Electric Energy)
Step 1:
Coal is burnt to boil water. (Heat Energy)
Step 2:
Vapours from boiling water are stored to a high pressure.
Step 3:
High pressured vapours are taken to drive the turbanes. (Mechanical Energy)
Step 4:
The Mechanical Energy from the turbanes rotate the Coils to produce Electric Energy by Induction. (Electric Energy)
Part B) Transmission of Electric Energy:
The electric energy thus generated through step 1 through step 4 is transmitted to the household purpose through transmission lines.
As electrical energy suffers transmission loss, they are stepped up at regular distances using Step-Up transformers.
This energy reaches the Sub-Stations and is divided into different categories for commercial and residencial purposes.
Part C) Conversion of electrical energy for household:
At home,
Electrical energy is converted into Mechanical Energy to Run Washing Machines, Electric Fans and Electric Coolers.
Electrical energy is converted into Heat energy to Cook food, Boil water through Geisers, Pressing dress.
