Goal:
Make the highest volume VG/PG solution at 80%/20%, respectively,
with a 0.3% nicotine level.
Ingredients:
750ml VG
250ml PG
125ml 75%/25% VG/PG solution at 2.4% nicotine level.
I need to know the formula for the highest volume of this solution I can make that ends with a 0.3% nicotine level at an 80%/20% VG/PG ratio, given the above listed ingredients.
Higest volume of 0.3 % nicotin solution from 125mL of nicotin solution can be calculated by following calculation:
Suppose, Volume of 0.3 % nicotin solution is V1.
Conc. of final solution is C1 = 0.3 %
Volume of 0.3 % nicotin solution is V2 = 125 mL.
Conc. of initial solution is C2 = 2.4 %
So, V1*C1 = V2*C2
As the initial solution has 75%/25% VG/PG, but our desire is to make 80%/20% VG/PG.
so that , first we will make our initial solution to 80%/20% VG/PG by adding VG. After that, add the solution of 80%/20% VG/PG to make the solution of 0.3 % nicotin upto 1000 mL
Calculation to make it 80%/20% VG/PG :
Volume of final solution V3.
Conc. of PG in final solution C3 = 25 %
Volume of initial solution V4 = 125 mL
Conc. of PG in initial solution C4 = 20 %
So, V3 * C3 = V4 * C4
So that we have to add amount of VG in initial solution to dilute the solution of PG or to conc the solution of VG = 156.25 - 125 = 31.25 mL
Now to make 0.3 % nicotin solution, the amount of 80%/20% VG/PG should be added = 1000 - 156.25 = 843.75 mL
Now to make 843.75 mL of 80 %/20% VG/PG solution,
The amount of PG reqiured = 843.75- 675 = 168.75 mL
Conclusion:
Total amount of VG added to the initial solution = 31.25 mL (to make 75%/25% VG/PG to 80%/20% VG/PG) + 675 mL(to make 1000 mL of solution) = 706.25 mL
Total amount of PG added to the initial solution = 168.75 mL
