Job designing requires analysis of the job that is required and
then inculcating it into duties, tasks and responsibilities with
small units of work that can be identified as milestones to achieve
the objectives set in the start of job requirement. Job designing
should include the following elements to get the maximum output
from employees:
- Job Rotation: Doing same job everyday becomes monotonous and
repetitive which reduces employee interest, motivation and
performance. So he should be rotated in his job for different work
having same nature so that his interest and motivation does not go
down which in turn will keep is performance level up to mark.
- Job Simplification: The job here is broken into small sub-parts
which is further assigned to every individual which can be even
rotated among them. Although oversimplification of job can have an
adverse effect on employee interest.
- Job Enlargement: This means to increase the scope of the job
that can be done by adding more tasks or combining the related
tasks. This might lead to more training requirement for employees
but this helps in keeping the interest and motivation of employees
at peak for doing their job.
- Job Enrichment: This involves in providing the employees a
greater autonomy for controlling and planning their tasks and
duties. This is done because it helps employees to have a sense of
personal achievement and they also see a scope of growth in their
career path which motivates them to work even harder.
