In the United States, given current demands on physicians, how likely is it that over the next 5 years most small practices will adopt EMR and, potentially, HMIS? What are some of the factors that might influence these investment decisions? State your views and support your assertions with examples and references.
Answer: As the population and incidence of disease are increasing and the lfiestlye of people are become more and more prone to long term chronic diseases like diabetes and hearth ailment the load and demand for the trained physicians will kept on increasing. The biggest challenge in treatment of chronic diseases management is the treatement history of the patient. If the treatment history of the patients are avaialbe through the EMR and there is HMIS which sotres and keep the data secure as well as avaialbe to authorized doctors to make their decision correct as well as in lesser time. To facilitate the physicans and reduce the time they need to spend in understanding and reviewing the medical history of the patients can be facilitated throught he robust HMIS and the productivity of the pyhysicans can be increased significantly and the accuracy of treatment will also increase. This will help physician and small practices to accomdoate more patients and they can take patiens coming from any area or state. This will be major driver for investment in EMR and collaborating with the HMIS. Patients will also need convenice in terms of keeping track of their treatment and small practices which offers the EMR and HMIS collaboration will be prefereed by the people will further compel them to invest in this technology.
