How likely is it that ethical violation of research standards could happen in the United States? In your opinion, what is the probability that an event such as the Tuskegee incident could recur during the contemporary era
The ethical violation of research standards by country like US is totally unacceptable because every human being is similar and no one should be abused in any sense. The country like U.S is known for its developed techniques and many countries rely upon them for cure of many diseases. The poor countries lacking basic amenities becomes the target of U. S for their clinical trial as these country people thought that they will get the medication free of cost on priority basis. But these people becomes the poor target of unethical practices of Big country as they do their other tests on the poor people without their consent making them more prone to other disease as well as challenges health.
The incidence that occur in Tuskegee was a horrific Nazi experiments in which they were a subject of study “untreated syphilis in the male Negro”. They were never treated and totally unawared that they are at the last stage of syphilis after as a result of constant exposure to syphilis. They were given general medicines like aspirin etc. to cure bad blood. But the sad part is that the government was funding them for this study even after knowing the truth, and noone was legally punished after the incident exposed. In the contemporary era these kind of incidence are more likely to happen because recently a case of ethics violation was reported from Washington that in a clinical trial of new drug on nigerian people for meningitis epidemic, the people were never given proper treatment when the condition worsen.
However in the contemporary era the world is too open and connected and has a tight regulations of research studies especially on the clinical human trial as the National Bioethics Advisory Commission has postulated some special rules and mandatory rules in favour of test human like they should be treated properly with medicines if they got sick in between the research, their life is priority in order to prevent the incidence like the one takes place in Tuskegee.
