The Citrobacter freundii is a gram negative bacteria which is also a facultative anaerobe.

It is a rod shaped and flagellated bacteria. It is found in gut of humans. In open environment it plays role in the nitrogen cycle.

To identify the Citrobacter freundii, we need to know all the features of the different hierarchy levels.

As it is not mentioned that it is experiment related observation or to identify the organism theoretically by its characters, I am making a flow chart theoretically.

It belongs to kingdom Bacteria.

Phylum- Proteobacteria (gram negative, motile/non-motile)

Class Gammaproteobacteria (rod shaped, heterotrophic)

Order Enterobacteriales (non-spore forming, facultative anaerobes)

Family Enterobacteriaceae (motile, reduce nitrates, produce acid in fermentation)

Genus Citrobacter ( having peritrichous flagella)

Species C.freundii. (flagellated, 1-5 micron length).

Based upon above features which are in a flowchart pattern, we can identify the given organism as the Citrobacter freundii. It must resemble with all the features of the given hierarchy level.
