For our discussion, please address the following:
Define “groups” and “organizations.”
Share an example of a group you have joined (sports team, study group, support group).
What benefits do you see in group membership?
What is the difference between a voluntary and an involuntary group?
1. A group can be considered as two or three people that come together that have a similar set of beliefs or goals and complement each other's working. Whereas an organization is a collection of groups or a large number of groups in their second phase that is organized to achieve their goals efficiently.
2. I have joined a non-profit group which works for benefit of animals and pets that have been abandoned by their owners.
3. A group membership allows us to join forces with a number of people that have the same beliefs as we do and therefore, allow us to be able to exchange our experience, knowledge, ideas and enthusiasm which causes our own abilities to grow. It also allows us the ability to be able to accomplish certain goals with ease.
4. The difference between a voluntary and an involuntary group is that in a voluntary group you decide to be a part of the process while in an involuntary group, you have no decision power and it is mandatory to be a part of that group. Examples include chess club (voluntary) army enlistment in some countries after a certain legal age (involuntary).
