All formed elements in blood are derived from hematopoietic stem cells.
A.
Megakaryocytes are large bone marrow cells which are responsible for the production of blood platelets, which are responsible for normal blood clotting.
megakaryoblasts are precursors of megakaryocyte
Stem cells are converted into Megakaryoblasts by the action of Several Factors like hematopoietic growth factors ( interleukin-3 , granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, erythropoietin etc), thrombopoietin etc
So Due to deficiency of hematopoietic growth factors if stem cells are not converted into megakaryoblasts -----It will lead to reduced production of Platelets---Platelet Deficiency
This will Affect normal Blood CLotting function which will cause excessive bruising, Excessive bleeding from cuts ,reddish-purple spots (petechiae) on the skin etc.
B.
Thrombopoietin is an important regulator of platelet production, which is produced by the liver .
Thrombopoietin Functions-
a.It supports survival of hematopoietic stem cell .
2.Promoting all aspects of development of megakaryocyte .
So the introduction of thrombopoietin into the Patient helps devolopment of Megakaryocytes and platelet production----which can resolve patients condition
