Answer 1) Building automation system:-
There is various electronic equipment present in the building. To
manage this equipment and optimize its energy spent. we need a
system of microprocessors integrated with wired or wireless
controllers. We refer to this system as a building automation
system(BAS).
BAS provides access and control to the electronic equipment
installed in the building. And also helps in monitoring the
performance of equipment. BAS enables users to create a proper
interface to analyze their energy systems, schedule the timing of
its operation, and to resolve any issues in the systems if
arises.
Answer 2) Importance of considering BAS for buildings:-
BAS helps in regulating the building's energy consumption to a
minimum possible level and it helps in enhancing the building
security against the dangers of high rated electronic equipment
installed in the building.
Answer 3) Effect of BAS on energy efficiency;-
BAS provides proper regulation in the energy consumption of
buildings. It helps in providing energy that is exactly needed. BAS
provides effective control and monitoring of various ventilating,
cooling, and lightening equipment. which enhances the overall
energy efficiency of the building.
Answer 4) Main components of BAS:-
The following are the main components of BAS;
a) controllers:- Controllers gather data from the system sensors
and helps in responding according to the data acquired. It is the
main component of BAS.
b). output devices:- It constitutes relays and circuit breakers
that help in performing various actions and commands given by the
controller.
c) communication protocols:- It refers to the language used by the
hardware of BAS so that various components can communicate with one
another.
d) User interface:- It helps in interacting with BAS and provides a
platform to monitor and control the equipment installed in the
building remotely. a user interface can be web-based and accessible
through laptops and mobile phones.
e) Sensors:- Sensors are the devices that gather data from the
building and send it to the controller. Data includes the
temperature of certain rooms, humidity levels, Room occupancy,
etc.
