Identify the factors that you have learned thus far that will have to the greatest impact on your current position or a new position you may take in the future. Why or how will they impact your decision making?
The thing that I have experienced that occurs most frequently is the fact that leadership has a lot to do with people skills, more than actual technical expertise in a given process or area. Also, it is almost always understated that data holds the most relevant value in an organization, and in order to be successful as a manager, a leader, or even when progressing throughout one’s career, understanding of technology, use of data and decision-making systems and undertaking of database management systems holds immense value for our career aspect. The decisions that are made through experience alone can be faulty and offset by the conscious bias individuals project through their past experiences. This would make it more relevant to utilize technology in order to utilize a more contingent approach, as well as for being proactive rather than being reactive to situations in the future.
The use of data would allow a better understanding of the
variables involved in the process, prevent any bias from being
introduced, and provide a clearer sense of direction and outlook to
ensure that the decisions I make would be rational, quick, and
accountable.
