Concept Map: Diversity of capacitor types used in electronics.

To Do:

1) Cite 4 examples of capacitor’s use in electronics.

2) What type of capacitor is each of the 4 you cite? Suggest how each is manufactured

Solutions

Expert Solution

1)

a) Dielectric capacitor

b) Ceramic capacitor.

c) Electrolytic capacitor

d)Film capacitor.

2)

a) Dielectric capacitor is used for tuning transmitters, receivers radio. It is a multi-plate air spaced type contains air or any other dielectric material. It has a moving plate and constant plate by using movement capacitance of the capacitor determined.

b) Ceramic capacitor also called disc type capacitor. It is made by coating both side of ceramic disc using silver. Which is again stacked together to make disc capacitor. It has range between few Pico farads to micro farads, but few voltage capabilities. Used in coupling and bypassed capacitor due to non polarization of the device.

c) Electrolytic capacitor is used where very high capacitance value is required. Semi liquid electrolytic materials are used in the form of paste to make electrodes. In Electrolytic capacitor positive and negative terminal is marked. it is a polarized device. It is generally used in DC power supply in which where large capacitance value is required to eliminate ripple.

d)Film capacitor is commonly available capacitor. Which has different manufacturing style such as,

Metal hermetically sealed in which epoxy is encased in metal shield. Epoxy case in which capacitor is filled in modular plastic and then epoxy is encaden.

Deletions can be used to map genes along a chromosome. In order to do this a series of crosses in which one parent is homozygous for a mutant allele is crossed with the other parent that is homozygous for a partial deletion of the region. The progeny are scored to determine whether they have the mutant phenotype ("m") or the wild-type phenotype ("+"). If a mutation falls within the deletion it will have the "m" phenotype, if it falls outside...
