Solutions

Expert Solution

Question 1

Answer :

prescribed dose of phenytoin = 250 mg

amount available =25 mg/5 ml

There for 1 ml = 25mg /5 =5mg

So now we know that 1ml = 5mg

So that 250mg / 50. =5mg

= 5mg * 50. = 250 mg

= 1ml * 50. = 50ml

how many ml, should the nurse administer per dose. = 50ml

Question 2

Answer :

Prescribed dose of levothyroxine = 0.175 mg

Available dose = 88 (0.088 mg) mcg/tablet.

There for,   1 tablet = 0.088mg

Required dose = 0.175mg

= 0.175mg / 0.088mg

= 2 tablets.

How many tablets should the nurse administer dose = 2 tablets.

Question 3

Answer :

Prescribed dose of cefprozil = 15 mg/kg

Child's weight. = 45 lb = 20.4 kg

So required dose = 15mg * 20.4kg

= 306 mg

Available dose of cefprozil. = 250 mg/5ml.

= 50mg /1ml

There for required volume = (306mg/50mg) * 1ml

= 6.12 * 1ml

= 6.12 ml

How many ml should the nurse administer = 6.12 ml. ( round figure 6ml)
