Most theories of motivation distinguish between biological motives (e.g., for food, water, sex, warmth) and social motives (e.g., for achievement , autonomy, affiliation). Biological needs are generally essential for the survival of the group or individual. Social motives are acquired as a result of learning. While there are relatively few biological needs, people theoretically may acquire an unlimited number of social needs.
Although this statement is basically true, we know that the biological motives for food and sex are greatly influenced by learning and thus become social motives as well. To illustrate this point , please take the following questionnaire on your ideas about sex and sexual behavior.
Please decide whether each statement below is true or false. Give a brief explanation of what led to your decision.

T/F 2. Since sexual desires are determined by basic
biological processes, sexual behavior is essentially the same in
all cultures.

female partner.
T/F 4. Rape, like other violent crimes, is a rare event.

1. T - One of the basic biological need of a man is to produce
offsprings. From an evolutionary perspective, he often competes
with other men to win a female in order to reproduce. Women on the
other hand are primarily concerned with nurturing the
offsprings.
2. T - The basic underlying notion in all cultures and humans is to
continue the family lineage. It's also basic genetics of
eliminating the weakest link. If you bear the bone of these
cultures, sexual behaviour would be the same across all
cultures.
3. F - There are many ways to sexually satisfy a partner without
having to use the p**** at all. Many women who are with men with a
smaller than average genitilia have reported to being sexually
satisfied.
4. F - Rape is more common than one thinks. It must be remembered
that many of the cases of rape do not come out in the open for the
fear of backlash from the society. As a result, even though the
number may be huge we only see a handful of cases being
reported.
5. F - Hymen can be ruptured even in non-sexual events such as
riding a horse or a bicycyle. Any physical rigorous activity such
as a sport is enough to rupture the hymen. As a result, it should
not be taken as an indicator of non-virginity.
