Q1. What are the THREE types of muscle tissue found in the body?
Muscle tissue is type of a specialized tissue, have a ability to short or contract to produce body movement and functioning of body
There are 3 type of muscle fiber
1. Cardiac – these are located in the wall of the heart, they are straited and involuntary in nature
2. Skeletal- these muscles are attached to skeleton, they are straited and voluntary in nature
3. Smooth – these are located in the hollow visceral organs except heart, they are spindle shaped and involuntary in nature.
Q2. Which type is voluntary?
Skeletal muscle is voluntary in nature as they are attached to skeleton.
Q3. Which type has cells connected to each other by intercalated discs
Intercalated discs are the specialized unique formation found in the myocardial cells, it helps in bounding the cells togethers and transmit signals between cells. Cardiac cells are the special cells as they are connected to each other by the intercalated discs
Q4. Which type is capable of cell division?
Smooth muscle undergoes proliferation or cell division during any damage or injury. They have a greatest ability to regenerate among all the muscle cells and can increase in the number.
Q5. What structure connects muscles to the bones they move?
Tendon is a tough connective tissue that join or connect muscle to bone for the movement of the skeleton muscle. When muscle contract it pulls the bone closer and do movement of the body.
Q6. What do we call the layer of connective tissue that surrounds an entire muscle?
Epimysium is a sheath of connective tissue, that surround the muscle, it a dense and irregular tissue which protect the skeletal muscle and tendon form friction during movement.
Q7. What is motor unit.
Motor unit is defined as these are the small unit consist of motor neuron and muscle fiber, it usually work together for the contraction of skeletal muscle.
Q8. Define the following terms:
1) myofibril; - it is defined as a long-elongated rode like structure compost of myosin and actin and are found in the straited muscles.
2) myosin- it defines as a contractile filament made up of protein which are present in muscle fiber.
3) actin- it is a cellular protein which help in contraction of muscle fiber and usually found in the microfilaments.
4) sarcomere. – it a
Q9. What is the name of the protein that gives red muscle fibers their red color?
Red muscle fiber are skeletal muscle which are red in color it consist of capillaries, myoglobin and mitochondria. Capillaries help in the transportation of gases, mitochondria help in generation of the energy in the form of ATP and myoglobin are the protein which gives red color to the muscle specially
