The systems design process organizes the components of a proposed system with sufficient detail for developers to construct the system. These components include the application and network architecture, user and system interfaces, and the database.

Starting with the analysis model, the design process produces a more detailed model of the system, which focuses on the architectural details, interfaces, and communication protocols between the various software components. During the design phase, both the application and technical architecture of the system must be developed. Several diagrams are used during the design process including locations, network, and deployment diagrams.

After you have reviewed the resources for this application, perform the following tasks:

List and describe several components of both the application and technology (network) architecture that a system designer must consider when developing the system presented in the case study.

List and describe several network and web protocols you would consider for the final system design. Justify your final selections.

Develop a final network diagram study for the system described in the case study. Include a written discussion of each component and why it is included in the diagram.

List and describe several components of both the application and technology (network) architecture that a system designer must consider when developing the system presented in the case study.

A designer must consider the following with developing the system that is presented in our case study:

  • They must describe the environment
  • They must design the application components
  • They must design the user interface
  • They must design the database
  • They must design the software classes and methods.

List and describe several networks and web protocols you would consider for the final system design. Justify your final selections.

A network protocol that you find in most business environments is a virtual network protocol or a VPN. According to Satingzer, Jackson, and Burd, a VPN is defined as a secure communication over the inter using technologies that reliably identify senders and recipient’s and encrypt network messages sent to them. VPN as used primarily for security reasons to protect both end users while transferring data across the world-wide-web.

There are several protocols that I would use. One is called a URL as it defines a document or resource name. Another protocol that I would use is a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). An HTML has the structure and content of a web page; this included text, images, tables, and forms. Another protocol that I would use is an Extensible Markup Language (XML). An XML enables a group of the user to define additional encoding with Web documents.

Develop a final network diagram study (see figures 7-14 and 7-17) for the system described in the case study. Include a written discussion of each component and why it is included in the diagram.

My network diagram consists of users, patients, physicians, nurses and personal assistant at Sandia Medical Devices all using the Real-Time Glucose Monitor (RTGM). All users will go through a server that has 3G/4G capabilities and the portable devices that they would be using for their glucose reading would be either a biometric screening device or a PDA handheld device. Both devices would be connected to a server that held all the collected data, to be used for a various reason. The collected data would be used for automated collections purposes, data that would be stored on servers for use for upcoming screening purposes and to communicate for services to patients and healthcare providers.

A new design for the braking system on a certain type of car has been proposed. For the current system, the true average braking distance at 40 mph under specified conditions is known to be 120 ft. It is proposed that the new design be implemented only if sample data strongly indicates a reduction in true average braking distance for the new design.
