Explain why early-start schedule and late-start schedule budgets are different.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer:

Early Start represents the earliest date an activity can possibly begin, based on all its predecessors and successors.

The Late Start field contains the latest date that a task can start without delaying the finish of the project. This date is based on the task's start date, as well as on the late start and late finish dates of predecessor and successor tasks, and other constraints.

The budget for early start and late start is different. While preparing the budget for early start, there is no consideration of the constraints associated with the situations for performance of the activities. Activity is considered to begin in an ideal time as per the planning of the schedule. Thus, the budget in early start does not include any unforeseen event that may lead to the delay of the project and increase in the budget.

In late start, while preparing the budget, there is a consideration of the situational constraints that causes the budget of the project to escalate. In late start, the time required for starting the activity involves the impact of the constraints and thus, the activity starts little bit late as against the planned early start. This additional constraints causes the budget to include the considerations for the situational constraints.
