1. Why is the patella important for the patellofemoral joint complex?
2. Explain why the “core” is important when it comes to the stability of the upper and lower extremity?
1. Patella is essential for the action at the joint of the legs. Patella is arranged in a different way for the proper functioning of the movements at the knee joint. It is acts as pulley mechanism for the quadriceps. Patella increase the force of knee extension and it decreases the force to the femoral chondyles and thus stabilize patellar tendon. Thus it helps to avoid the injury during the knee movements and give a better balance.
2. Core strength is essential for the posture management. It is one of the strongest muscle region. It cordinates the upper and lower extremities and thus reduces the pressure to the hip and knee region. As it act in the centre of body and gives a good strength to the body it becomes the place of optimum strength to the body. Core make network with the back, abs, chest and hip and makes the body balance. It supports our bodu from falling back. A good core strength reduces the back pain. Core strength is essential to keep the spinal cord in its posture. It is thus essential to stand straight keep our spines steady.
