Describe how fertilization and implantation take place? Include the listed parts as you describe the sequence of events that occur (ovary, fimbriae, ampulla, oviduct, uterus (fundus and body), cervical canal, vaginal tract). Write a brief list of the differences between the 1st 2nd and 3rd trimesters of gestation?

Fertilization is the union of a human egg and sperm, usually occurring in the ampulla of the fallopian tube or uterine tube while  implantation is the stage of pregnancy at which the embryo attaches to the wall of the uterus

In the  process of fertilization, semen containing thousands of sperms is inseminated into the female vag!na during coitus, before this happens, the ovaries produce egg or ovum, which than moves throught the oviduct and than transported to the fallopian tube where fertilization may occur, the fimbriae are tiny finger like projection present in the fallopian tube which helps in capturing the egg and moving the egg toward the fallopian tube, thefertilized egg than travels to the uterus. Sperm are made in the testes and mature in a coiled tube, the epididymis. At the end of sexual intercourse, they travel along the vas deferens and mix with fluids made by the prostate gland and seminal vesicle. The sperm then pass along the urethra to the tip of the pen!s and into the female vag!na, the vag!nal tract than to cervical tract and than into the fallopian tubes, The egg and surrounding cells produce a chemical that attracts sperm, as they travel through the fallopian tubes, sperm gain the ability to fertilize an egg they undergo two processes: capacitation, where its outer layer is changed, and hyperactivation, which changes the way the sperm’s tail move, for the sperm to enter the egg it has to brreak through group of cells known as cumulus oophorus, the sperm dissolves this by releasing a enzyme, than the sperm penetrates the egg, once it meets the egg, the nuclei from the egg and sperm merge and share their genetic material. The fertilized egg becomes zygote

Implantation, Once fertilization happens, the cell starts to divide and multiply within 24 hours in the fallopian tube, than after 3-4 days it travels to the uterus and now we call it as an embryo. The embryo develops and undergoes various stages and gets attached to the endometrial layer of the uterus. This process is known as implantation.

First trimester, The early changes that signify pregnancy become present in the first trimester. The first trimester begins on the first day of your last period and lasts until the end of week 12.

Second trimester, The second trimester of your pregnancy is from week 13 to week 28 , roughly months four, five and six.

Third trimester, begins in week 28 of pregnancy and lasts until you give birth, which may be around week 40 of pregnancy
