1.
a. Which suture runs medial-lateral connecting the frontal and parietal bones?
b. Which is the most posterior cranial bone? Name it’s articulating surface.
c. Which bone forms the lower jaw? Describe it’s proximal joint.
d. Name and describe the ossicles.
e. Which bone is the attachment site for muscles of the larynx, tongue and pharynx?
1 (a) coronal suture.
Cranial bones are connected by each other through the material known as the suture , they use to connect the bones in skull.
Coronal suture is the suture that connects the frontal bone which is unpaired forehead bone with pareital bone which is paired bone present in skull.
And this is the suture that runs medial- lateral
This is the diagram of the skull bone and suture and this is the posterior view
(B) So you can see the anterior bone is frontal which i have mentioned there and the most posterior bone is occipital bone.
So the most posterior bone of the skull is occipital bone.
And the articulating surfaces are the superior angle of the occipital bone articulates with the occipital angle of the parietal bone and the interior angle articulates with the sphenoid bone , the occipital bone also gets in contact with 1st vertebrae that is atlas vertebrae.
(C) mandible is the bone that form the lower jaw and it is considered as the largest and strongest bones of the face and also present in the last part of the face.
This bone is present in the lower part of the face and forms the lower jaw whils the maxilla is the bone that forms the upper jaw and these bones helps in the movement of the month during the chewing of the food speaking etc
The joint which is proximal to the mandible is the temporomandibular joint or TMJ this is the joint which is formed between the temporal bone of the skull and the mandible bone.
It is present in the lateral part of the face in the base of the skull and helps in thd movement of the mouth.
(D) ossicles are the three tiny bones which are present in the middle ear of the humans they are use to transmits the mechanical sound waves or vibration from.the eardrum into the the cochlea.
There are three ossicle bones and in which one of the bone is smallest in the body
These are incus , malleus and stapes where stapes is the smallest bone.
(E)
Its a hyoid bone , the hyoid bone is horseshoe shaped bone which is the attachment site for the tongue larynx and the pharynx.
This bone is situated in the base of the mandible bone at the level of C3 vertebrae and in the midline of the neck between the chin and thyroid cartilage.
This bone has the body the greater horn and two lesser horn this bone is the attachment site for the tongue to that of the oral cavity.
