Stress is a many-faceted process that occurs in reaction to events or situations in our environment termed stressor. When individuals experience stressful life events, their health often suffers. There are numerous events that cause stress like divorce, death of a lived one, retirement, financial problems, change of place, new situations, work pressure etc. Such matters cause stress and people become ill. Stress is the soutce of many diseases.

Most adults spend more time at work than in any other single activity. Some factors at the work place cause stress like blatant sexual harassment, discrimination etc. Besides, the pressure of the work, bad performance in work, promotion, attitude of the fellows, the economic condition of the company etc cause stress. Such stress gives birth of many dangerous diseases like high pressure, blood sugar, sleeplessness, continuous headache etc.

Daily life is filled with countless minor annoying sources od stress - termed hassles- that seem to make up for their relatively low intensity by their much higher frequency. That suvh daily hassels are the important source of stress is suggested by Lazarus and his colleagues. These researchers developed a Hassles Scale on which individuals indicate the extent to which they have been hassled by common events during the past months.

The link between stress and personal health according to medical experts is very strong ( Kiecolt-Glaser & Glaser). Moreover, included in these percentages are some of the most serious and life-threatening ailments known to medical science. To list just a few, stress has been implicated in the occurrence of heart disease, high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, ulcers, and even diabetes.
