insipidus differ from that which
occurs in diabetes mellitus?
8. What other conditions result in polyuria and polydipsia (pu/pd)?

Mechanism of diuresis in diabetes insipidus:-
ADH is the antidiuretic hormone responsible for water reabsorption and controls the diuresis.
Diuresis in diabetes insipidus is resulted from lack of antidiuretic hormone.

Other conditions results in polyuria and polydipsia:-
Other than diabetes mellitus and insipidus number of other conditions results in polyuria and polydipsia. They are as below:-

DDAVP is 1-deamino-8-D-arginine vasopressin. It is the man made hormone similar to the ADH. It is used to contrast the polyuria.
It can be administered as Spray through nasal route or through Intravenously or by oral as tablet.
