  1. A researcher predicts that there is an effect of domestic conflict on job performance. Write a Hypothesis for this research to mention the interest of the researcher. Also, mention the hypothesis which will be tested for this research. (In other words, write the null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis in words).

H0:

H1:

The confidence interval was 91% and the p-value was 0.09. How would you rephrase the hypothesis to publish the result?

Rephrase:

note: the confidence interval 91%.thus alpha is 0.09.

Solutions

Expert Solution

1. Null hypothesis always carries a sense of nullity or no effect in its statement. So here the null and alternative hypotheses are:

Null hypothesis: There is no effect of domestic conflict on the job performance

Alternative hypothesis: There is a significant effect of domestic conflict on job performance.

2. Based on p-value we test any hypothesis using the criterion:

Reject the null hypothesis if and only if observed p-value is strictly less than or equal to the size of the test.

Here the size, alpha = 0.09 and also the observed p value is equal to 0.09. As they both are equal hence we must reject the null hypothesis in favour of the alternative hypothesis.

Thus the result is: Based on the data observed, at a 9% level of significance, we reject the null hypothesis and accept the fact that there is a significant effect of domestic conflict on job performance.

Hope the solution helps. Thank you.

The effect of a monetary incentive on performance on a cognitive task was investigated. The researcher predicted that greater monetary incentives would result in higher performance. Participants were told that they would receive either 5 cents, 25 cents, or 50 cents for each word puzzle that they correctly solved. A statistical test showed that there was a significant effect of incentive on performance at the .01 level. The greater the incentive, the more puzzles were solved. 1.) What statistical test...

A researcher is interested in looking at the effect of sleep and caffeine on physical performance. The researcher has each subject perform a series of 6 tests across a number of week. The researcher alters the amount of sleep the subject should receive (8 hours, 6 hours, and 4 hours) while also altering whether they drink coffee in the morning or they do not. These two factors are completely crossed to create the six conditions. Eight subjects were recruited for...
