A researcher is interested in looking at the effect of sleep and caffeine on physical performance. The researcher has each subject perform a series of 6 tests across a number of week. The researcher alters the amount of sleep the subject should receive (8 hours, 6 hours, and 4 hours) while also altering whether they drink coffee in the morning or they do not. These two factors are completely crossed to create the six conditions. Eight subjects were recruited for the study and performed a physical test in a lab. Higher scores on the test indicate better performance. Report your results, run all hypothesis tests, and provide a final summary of your results. How is this done within SPSS? Please help!

A researcher is interested in the effects of sleep deprivation and caffeine intake on mood. Participants were randomly assigned to a sleep condition (normal or deprived) and a caffeine condition (0 cups, 2 cups, or 4 cups). After the manipulations, mood was measured (such that higher numbers indicated better mood). The results were as follows:                    Normal Condition                                      Deprived Condition          0 cups        2 cups        4 cups                    0 cups        2 cups        4 cups             16              18              18                          0               ...

A researcher investigated the effect of caffeine on performance on a test of attention. Twenty people were given regular black coffee, twenty people were given espresso, twenty people were given soda, and twenty people were given an energy drink. Afterwards, they were all given tests of attention. What is the 〖df〗within? What is the 〖df〗between? What is the critical value of F for the 0.05 significance level (using Figure 12.6. F-table for use with ANOVA)? 〖df〗within = number of participants...

A researcher was interested in learning about the effect of caffeine consumption on problem solving. To examine this relationship, participants were randomly selected and assigned to one of four conditions: no caffeine consumption, 100 mg dosage of caffeine, 200 mg dosage of caffeine, or 300 mg dosage of caffeine. The participants were then asked to solve as many anagrams* as possible in a 5 minute period. The results of the study are presented below. *Anagrams are word puzzles that are...

Participants are assigned one of three different study methods (read the text and re-read it, read and answer prepared questions, and read then create your own questions). There are 6 people in each group and the researcher measures the participants’ performance on a test. Perform a hypothesis test and show all four steps. Hints: Use a two tailed...

In a study conducted to determine the role that sleep disorders play in academic performance, researcher Jane Gaultney conducted a survey of 1845 college students to determine if they had a sleep disorder (such as narcolepsy, insomnia, or restless leg syndrome). Of the 503 students with a sleep disorder, the mean grade point average was 2.65 with a standard deviation of 0.87. Of the 1342 students without a sleep disorder, the mean grade point average was 2.82 with a standard...
