Describe the difference it might make in one's life if one (a) sees the world as basically hostile, cold, and unreceptive toward one's basic needs, or (b) sees the world as basically welcoming and interested in who one is as a person.
Every individual views themselves and the world around them differently. That's where the role of perception steps in. If a person sees the world as hostile, cold and unreceptive, which probably may not be the case, they are likely to spend the rest of their life on their own. Since a person views the world as cold, hostile and judgmental, he would be too apprehensive interacting with others. There would be no interaction, intellectual stimulation with others. This person would view the world to be a sad place to live in.
However, on the other hand, if a person views the world to be welcoming and interested in who one is as a person, then he would be very outgoing. This person would be happier going out, meeting new people, being empathetic and simply be in a happier place.
Well, the world out there can be too much for some of us to deal with, however, it is all about how you view it. You would be happier if you perceive the world to be a happier and a welcoming place.
