How many grams of Al are needed to react with 14.4 g of FeO given the following reaction: 3FeO + 2Al --> 3Fe + Al2O3

Solutions

Expert Solution

molar mass of FeO = 71.8 grams/mole

Molar mass of Al = 27 grams/mole

According to equation

3 moles of FeO = 2 moles of Al

amount of Al required for 3x71.8 grams of FeO = 2x27 grams

amount of Al required for 14.4 grams of FeO = ?

                                                            = 2x27x14.4/3x71.8

                                                              = 3.61 grams of Al

amount of Al needed = 3.61 grams.
