I. Recall a recent group project or task in which you have participated. Explain how members of the group displayed each of the managerial skills (technical, interpersonal, conceptual, diagnostic, communication, decision-making, or time management skills) or were used in that situation.

II.The text notes that management is both a science and an art. Recall an interaction you have had with someone at a higher level in an organization (manager, teacher, group leader, or the like). In that interaction, how did the individual use science? If he or she did not use science, what could have been done to use science? In that interaction, how did the individual use art? If he or she did not use art, what could have been done to use art?

III.Watch a movie that involves an organization of some type. Harry Potter, Avatar, The Avengers, Flight, and Up in the Air would all be good choices. Identify as many management activities and skills as you can. Provide a comprehensive rationale to your answer. Describe the functions of a manager as applicable to an Industry, also amplify coordination as a task of the manager/leader from the movie you have chosen.

IV.Young, innovative, or high-tech firms often adopt the strategy of ignoring history or attempting to do something radically new. In what ways might this strategy help them? In what ways might this strategy hinder their efforts?

V.Can a manager use tools and techniques from several different perspectives at the same time? For example, can a manager use both classical and behavioral perspectives? Give an example of a time when a manager did this and explain how it enabled him or her to be effective.

I Ans:- I have participated in a project to clean the sea beach area. The members of group different managerial skills. Most imporatant skill was interpersonal skill which was required to engage with authorities and team members. There was also conceptual skills required to know about the methods to clean the beach area. Decision making was also required to provide the delegation of work and to complete the cleaning in atime bound time.

II Ans:- I has an interaction with manager of a company in which he has to set up a bank branch in my area. So there was both science and arts involved. The manager has used scientific methods to find available customers in the area and how they can turn into thier potential consumers. He has to forecast the cost to set up the branch and time period in which the branch can reach the break even point.

There was also arts involved to pitch to the customers to open accounts in bank and also to persuade that they can gain best from thier bank.

III Ans:- Let us choose an example of "The Avangers." In this movie Captain America plays a pivotal role to build the team along with Hulk, Iron Man, Thor and others, knowing the fact that every one is almost equally valuable and capable. The team was managed with intelligence by providing adequate work to each individual. The technical expertise of Iron Man was used, strength of Thor nad Hulk was used and leadership of Captain America was also used.

IV Ans:- Young, innovative, or high-tech firms often adopt the strategy of ignoring history or attempting to do something radically new. This move helps the company by leading to following factors:-

a. This leads to creation of fresh ideas or products in the market.

b. It gives competitive advantage to the firm over others.

c. Customers find new concepts attractive and this leads to curiosity to try the product.

But in some cases the strategy might hinder their efforts because the idea can be totally detached from market sentiment and consumer need. The innovation might be too ahead of time. All these factors lead to failure of the idea.
