10% (w/w) of NACl is given. Density of solution is 1.071 gm per L. Calculate molality, molarity and mole fraction?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Solution:

Given in question: 10% (w/w) of NACl . Density of solution is 1.071 gm per L.

To calculate: Molality, molarity and mole fraction.

Molarity is moles of solute present in 1 L of solution, molality is  moles of solute present in 1000 gms of solvent and mole fraction is ratio of moles of the component to total moles.

So, to calculate we proceed as follows:

Molarity is 1.90 m; Molarity is 107.1/58.5 Mol per L; NaCl mole fraction is 0.03
