The history of telecommunication began with the use of smoke signals and drums in Africa, the America's and part of Asia. In the 1790s the first fixed semaphore systems emerged in Europe; however it was not until the 1830s that electrical telecommunication systems started to appear.
A telecommunications service is a service provided by a telecommunications provider or a specified set of user-information transfer capabilities provided to a group of users by a telecommunication systems.
The telecommunications service user is responsible for the information content of the message. The telecommunications service provider has the responsibility for the acceptance, transmission, and delivery of the message.
The definition of the telecommunications service is the offering of telecommunication for a fee directly to the public, regardless of the facilities used. Telecommunications in turn is defined as the transmission between or among points specified by the user, of information of the users choosing, without change in the form or content of the information as sent and received.
There are various types of telecommunication:
a) E-MAIL
b) fax
c) instant messaging
d) radio
e) telephony
f) television broadcasting.
The pricing points of telecommunications services differs from one place to other abd how many different services one purchases. For example, some companies offer telephone, internet and television service together at a package discount off what purchasing those services would have seperately would have cost. The pricing may also be different for businesses, which may require more lines and bandwith.
By adopting a sophisticated telecommunication system, many businesses have realized improved productivity,, better customer service and increased growth. However, the telecommunication technology comes with a fair share of its own challenges. From the high costs of aquiring telecommunication equipment to system breakdowns all through to latency problems, there are many problems associated with adopting these systems.
