Please and Thanks.

Domino’s Pizza was interested in determining whether a new employee could learn how to make a pizza using a computer-based training method (CD-ROM). The CD-ROM application addresses the proper procedure for “massaging” a dough ball and stretching it to fit a 12-inch pizza pan. Domino’s quality standards emphasize the roundness of the pizza, an even border, and uniform thickness of the dough. Traditionally, on-the-job training is used to teach new employees how to stretch pizza dough to fit the pizza pan.

What outcomes or criteria should Domino’s Pizza measure to determine if CD-ROM training is an effective method for teaching new employees how to stretch pizza dough to fit a 12-inch pan? Who would be involved in the evaluation?

Describe the evaluation design that you would recommend using to determine if CD-ROM training is more effective than on-the-job training?.

Expert Solution

The CD-ROM application is a training method that actually helps an employee to understand the procedure to create a Pizza which will fit a 12-inch pizza pan and that needs to be round and possess an even border along with uniform thickness throughout. The outcomes or criteria that Domino's pizza measure to determine are the quality of the products that are being prepared by such employees who attended the CD-ROM training method and if the quality measures are as per the requirements mentioned, then it can be stated that the method has been effective enough. It can also be compared with the products prepared by employees who received on-the-job training and the quality comparison will provide details regarding which one is better, the CD ROM method or the traditional on-the-job training method. The team that ensure quality should be given the responsibility to evaluate the method along with employees who are subject matter experts in the field.

As conveyed that in order to understand that which method is better the employees needs to be grouped in to two teams, in which one team will have employees receiving the traditional method of on-the-job training and in the other team there would be employees who have received CD-ROM training. They will be assigned tasks to create Pizza with such criteria and the performance of the teams will be used in order to understand which method is better.
