What is a blackbody spectrum? What is an emission line spectrum? What is an absorption line spectrum? How are each created? Which of these spectra (or which combination of these spectra) best describes the light coming form the sun?
part 1:
black body spectrum : it is a frequency spectrum of the black body radiation that depends upon the temperature of the black body.it is also called plank spectrum .
the spectrum follows planck's law and peaks at a characteristics frequency based upon the temperature.
part 2:
emission line spectrum:
emission line spectrum is created by an atom making transition
from one energy state to another.
energy difference between two states is released as photons and the
generated spectrum of wavelengths is called emission line
spectrum.
part 3:
absportion line spectrum:
absorption spectrum is generated by a sample absorping incoming photons and as the intensity varies, the generated frequency spectrum is called absoportion spectrum.
part 4: blackbody sprectrum is created by heating a perfect black body and varying its temperature to generate spectrum for different temperature value.
emission line spectrum is created by an atom making transition
from one energy state to another.
energy difference between two states is released as photons and the
generated spectrum of wavelengths is called emission line
spectrum.
absorption spectrum is generated by a sample absorping incoming photons and as the intensity varies, the generated frequency spectrum is called absoportion spectrum.
light coming from the sun can be best described by the emission line spectrum.
